Young people told us they struggled with engagement at school because they found it difficult to read. They told us they did not enjoy reading, so would find it difficult developing their reading through practise. Parents told us that they did not feel confident and have enough time to support their children's reading.
We worked with parents and the young people we serve to design a bespoke reading provision, piloted in 2019-2020 for 29 children.
